Candle Care
First Burn
We know you are excited to light your new candle, we are excited too! However, we recommend you wait a minimum of 14 days before enjoying your candle to optimize your scent throw.
If you want a candle that lasts longer, it is important that your candle's first burn should be one hour for every inch of the candle's diameter or until your wax melts all the way to the edges.
Additional Burns
Before every light, you should trim your wick to ¼” to give a more even flame and allow your candle to last longer. You can use a wick trimmer, nail clippers, scissors, or simply pinch your wick to length.
Safety First
As always, burn responsibly! Keep your candle free of dust and soot to prevent large flames. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and keep away from flammable materials. Last, never leave a burning candle unattended.
How To
We want you to love your candle just as much as we loved making it for you! Therefore, we want to teach you some terms to help you better understand your candle.
Tunneling
Tunneling is when your candle burns down the center of the wick, leaving unused wax in your jar. We get it, this is frustrating and not to mention, ugly. To avoid tunneling from happening to your favorite candle, the first burn is so important. Make sure you light your candle on a flat surface that is away from any drafts from windows, fans, and air conditioners. Next, allow up to 4 hours for your first burn. Our candles are made with 100% soy wax, they have a longer burn time and it is best to burn your candle one hour for every inch in diameter.
Sinkholes
Although all of our candles are handmade with love, sinkholes still happen. A sinkhole is a hollow cavity in your candle and is often located next to the wick and is another culprit of tunneling. When we pour your candles we take extra precautions to avoid this from happening, but in case it happens, we have some tips to help you fix it.
Quick Fix
Grab your hair dryer and set it to the lowest heat setting. Next, hold your hair dryer about 4-6 inches above the surface of your candle and make a circular motion for one minute. Now, let it cool. When you are all done, your Enchanted Wik candle surface should be as smooth as a baby's bottom.
